SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's golf team finished 90-over-par as a team for a two-day team score of 666 to finish first of eight teams at the 7th Annual Twin Ports Collegiate Invite Sept. 6-7 at Nemadji Golf Club, hosted by UW-Superior.
After carding a first round team score of 340 on Saturday, the Falcons improved their team score by 14 strokes on Sunday to set a UWRF program record for two-day team scores, breaking the previous record of 669 set at the DIII Classic in 2022.
Senior
Lauren Skov, who shot an 85 on Saturday, turned around on Sunday with a career-low round of 76 on Sunday to move three spots on the individual leaderboard while finishing second overall among 47 golfers with a total score of 161 (+17). Skov's Sunday score of 76 also ties a UWRF all-time low round, matching Gabe VanDyk's score of 76 in 2003.
Behind Skov,
Lily Sullivan carded scores of 80 and 85 to finish fourth, and the freshmen trio of
Ellie Whitbred,
Martha Effertz, and
Megan Bermejo also finished inside the top 10.
Up next, the Falcons are scheduled to compete at the Division III Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings, Minn., Sept. 13-14.
