Ranked Tests Ahead: Falcons Visit No. 23 UWSP, Host No. 20 Platteville

The UW-River Falls Falcons continue conference play this week with a demanding two-game stretch. River Falls will travel to face the No. 23 Pointers on Wednesday, Jan. 21, with tip-off set for 7 p.m., before returning home to Don Page Arena to host Alumni Day versus No. 20 UW-Platteville on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m.

THE SERIES

The Falcons hold a 13-20 record in the all-time series against Stevens Point. Despite dropping the last two meetings, River Falls has found success in recent seasons, posting a 6-4 record over the last 10 matchups, including multiple road victories in Stevens Point. 

The Falcons return home Saturday for Alumni Day where UW-River Falls owns an 12-21 all-time record against Platteville dating back to the 2010-11 season. River Falls has produced several notable home victories in the series, including key wins during the 2021-22 campaign, looking to add another on Saturday night. 

FALCON NOTES

Jack Leifker leads the Falcons offensively, averaging 14.9 points per game while also contributing on the glass with 5.1 boards per game while recently crossing over the 1K career-points mark. In the paint, Micah Thompson is averaging 12.3 points per game while pulling down a team-high 8.4 rebounds per contest. 

Gavin Ralph supplies the Falcon offense with 9.3 points per game, a team-high 30 assists and 22 steals on the season, while Reggie Postel has continued to facilitate with 25 assists and 22 steals this season while leading the team in three-point percentage. 

Defensively, through 16 games, the Falcons are holding opponents to 43.1 percent shooting from the field, and blocking 3.6 shots per game, compared to just 2.4 blocked shots per game by opponents. River Falls is averaging 6.3 steals per contest, contributing to additional scoring possessions.
