The UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team opens the 2026 season on the road this Saturday, Feb. 14, taking on Sewanee at 10 a.m. inside Sonnentag Fieldhouse in Eau Claire, Wis. The contest marks the beginning of head coach
Talia Hayes' fifth season leading the Falcon program.
River Falls enters the new campaign following the 2025 season in which the Falcons finished 12-5 overall and 6-3 in WIAC play. The Falcons closed out the year on a four-game winning streak, outscoring opponents 92-10.

FALCON NOTES
- Head coach Talia Hayes enters her fifth season at the helm after guiding the Falcons to their fourth straight 12+ win season.
- UWRF averaged over 15 goals per game while allowing just over eight goals per contest, ranking among the top teams in the WIAC on both the offensive and defensive ends.Â
- The Falcons led the WIAC with 230 caused turnovers and ranked fourth in the conference with 372 ground balls.Â
- River Falls totaled 265 goals in 2025, posting a .454 shooting percentage and averaging 34.4 shots per game.
- Samantha Hayek led the WIAC with 58 goals and 81 points, reaching the 100-career-goal milestone and finishing the season ranked second all-time in the UWRF record book in career assists.
- Brooke Glumack led the WIAC with 2.29 assists per game, recording 39 assists on the season, the second-highest single-season total in program history. With 71 career assists, Glumack enters the year as the program's all-time leader in assists.
- Lilah Gilyard anchored the Falcon defense, starting all 17 games while helping UWRF allow the second-fewest goals per game in the WIAC.
- Julia Hayek started all 17 contests and finished the season with 31 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers as part of one of the WIAC's most disruptive defensive units.
- UWRF closed the regular season with a program-record 28 goals in a 28-0 victory at Augsburg.Â
