WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — The UW-River Falls softball team splits its opening day of THE Spring Games on Sunday, March 15, defeating Manchester University 8-3 before a 6-4 loss against Concordia University Texas.
The Falcons, now 3-7 overall, face Hartwick College and Bowdoin College tomorrow.

Lacie Lilyquist added a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1. River Falls extended the lead in the second on a sacrifice fly from
Hannah Effertz.
The Falcons carried a 5-3 lead into the sixth before breaking the game open. Singles from Kayla Dolan and Tessa Peterson and a walk by Effertz loaded the bases for Amanda Holzhueter, who delivered a pinch-hit double to left field to clear the bases and extend the lead to 8-3.
Lucy Knutson earned the win in relief, striking out five over 3.2 innings while allowing just one run. Kressel led the Falcons with a triple and RBI, while Eaton and Dolan each scored twice in the victory.
Concordia Texas 6, UW-River Falls 4
Concordia built an early lead with single runs in the first, second and fourth innings before adding three more in the fifth to extend the advantage to 6-2.
The Falcons got on the board in the fifth. Leah Oistad singled and later scored on an error, while Ella Stuber added an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to one. River Falls pushed two more runs across in the sixth, capitalizing on a wild pitch and a throwing error to make it 6-4.
Oistad, Grace Gardner and Alexa Dusterhoft each recorded a hit for the Falcons, while Brooklyn VanGruensven took the loss in the circle.
