GREEN BAY, Wis. – The UW-River Falls softball team dropped both games of a nonconference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at King Park, falling 6-11 and 1-12 to the Phoenix.
In game one, the Falcons battled at the plate with 10 hits, highlighted by a big second inning that produced five runs.
Hannah Effertz and
Lacie Lilyquist each launched home runs in the frame, with Lilyquist driving in three runs to tie the game at 5-5.
Alexa Dusterhoft added a two-hit performance, while
Ella Stuber also recorded two hits and a stolen base.
Despite connecting in the second, Green Bay responded early and often, scoring five runs in the first inning and adding insurance throughout the game. The Phoenix finished with 11 runs on 10 hits to secure the win.
In game two, the Falcons were limited to five hits in a 12-1 loss.
Lacie Lilyquist and
Addison Eaton each recorded extra-base hits, with Eaton driving in the Falcons' lone run in the third inning.
Green Bay broke the game open in the third inning, scoring nine runs to take control. The Phoenix totaled 12 runs in the nightcap.
UW-River Falls will return to action on Wednesday, April 8, hosting Carleton at Faye Perkins Softball Stadium. The doubleheader will also serve as the program's Mental Health Awareness game.
