Box Score 1 RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls softball team split results in a weather-impacted WIAC doubleheader against UW-Platteville Saturday afternoon at Faye Perkins Stadium.
In game one, the Falcons fell 8-2 as Platteville jumped out early and never looked back. The Pioneers plated three runs in the opening inning and capitalized on miscues in the third to add four more, building a 7-0 advantage through three innings. UW-River Falls was limited offensively, finishing with just five hits on the afternoon.
The Falcons broke through in the sixth inning, scoring twice to cut into the deficit.
Alexa Dusterhoft reached and came around to score, while
Caitlyn Kressel and
Addison Eaton each recorded RBIs in the frame.
Lacie Lilyquist added a hit and a walk to pace the offense.
In the circle,
Hailey Kincaid got the start, with
Lucy Knutson providing relief, tossing five innings and striking out four. Defensively, the Falcons battled but were hindered by five errors, which contributed to several unearned runs for Platteville.
Game two was halted in the fifth inning due to persistent rain. The Falcons showed resilience rallying four runs in the fifth inning to tie the game before play was stopped.
