Falcon Spotlight - Jared Brandenburg

Jared Brandenburg (Independence, Independence), a senior on the Falcon men's cross country team, has had a very successful season so far this year.

According to Falcon Head Coach Keven Syverson, Brandenburg has put a lot of time and effort in over the last couple years and continued to improve every year. “He's really starting to see success and his hard work starting to pay off.”

Syverson says that Brandenburg worked hard over the summer, running over 800 miles. Apparently his hard work has been paying off as Brandenburg placed in the Top 10 recently at the Roy Griak Invitational.

On Friday at the Eau Claire Invitational he ran a 25:32 and that time is the eighth best in school history.

Brandenburg has been involved in cross country since his sophomore year in high school, when the coach at his high school talked him into trying out after a very successful track season the year before. What Brandenburg says he enjoys most about running is that, “a person can see direct results from their hard work and they got out of their performances what they put into their workouts.”

Brandenburg attributes part of his success to the coaching staff of the UWRF cross country team. He says that the athletes on the team are put in great situations to see success.

Outside of the cross country team, Brandenburg is also a part of the Falcon indoor and outdoor track & field teams. Majoring in sociology with a minor in criminal justice, he plans to pursue a career in law enforcement upon graduation.
