The Falcon men's hockey team had a 1-0 lead after the first period but were outscored, 7-0, the rest of the game at St. Norbert College on Friday night.
The Falcons scored the only goal of the first 20 minutes of play.
Mike Williams scored the goal at 3:51 with assists from
Adam Cardwell and
Sean Roadhouse. The goal was Williams' first as a college player. Just two penalties, one on each team, were called in the first period and SNC had a 13-9 advantage in shots.
SNC scored twice late in the second period to take a 2-1 lead after two. Kyle Stroh scored his fifth goal of the year with the teams playing four-on-four at 16:21. The Green Knights took a 2-1 lead at 19:28 while on the power play. Cody Keefer scored the goal from the Falcon doorstep.
Brandon Hoogeboom put SNC ahead, 3-1, at 2:44 of the third period. The Knights went on the power play at 3:34 and SNC scored a power-play goal at 4:22. Keefer scored his second of the game, off a scramble in front of the UWRF net, to put SNC ahead, 4-1. Just seconds after the goal the Falcons took another minor penalty and SNC scored its third power-play goal at the 6-minute mark. Mason Baptista scored the goal to make it 5-1. Later in the period the Falcons had a two-man power-play advantage for 49 seconds but couldn't score. At 13:28 SNC went ahead, 6-1, when Joe Perry redirected a long shot. At 17:32 Erik Cooper scored a power-play goal from 15 feet to the right of the Falcon goal.
UWRF goalie
Scott Lewan made 37 saves and he is now 4-1. SNC goalie, David Jacobson, stopped 21 shots to get the win and he improved to 4-1.
SNC finished 4-4 on the power play and are now 13-34 (.382) on the power play this year. The Falcons were 0-2 on the power play. UWRF took six minor penalties and SNC four.
The Falcons play at St. Norbert again on Saturday night with action starting at 7.
