Brian Kimble recorded 13 points, but the Falcon men's basketball team fell at UW-La Crosse on Wednesday night, 74-66.
The Falcon's entered the week ranked 19th on the latest D3hoops.com poll and went into Wednesday night's game searching for their seventh win in-a-row.
White had 17 points and seven rebounds as he lead the Falcon scoring attack. Kimble finished the night with 13 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Aaron Anderson hit two three-pointers on his way to 12 points and 5 rebounds on the night. Shane Manor and Wade Guerin struggled from the field as they went a combined 4-17. Manor had 11 points, including a 4-4 mark at the free throw line, and Guerin finished the night with 2 points and 9 rebounds.
UW-Lacrosse started the first half with a 9-0 run, but the Falcons stormed back to take a 10-9 lead with 13:21 to play. The battle then went back and forth until the Eagles ran out to a seven point, 21-14, lead with 9:13 to go in the first. The Falcons would storm back once again as they went on a 14 point run to take a 28-21 lead into halftime.
The Falcons held on to the lead in the first five minute of the first half, but the game shifted momentum, with 14:37 to play, when the Eagle hit a three to go up 37-34. La Crosse would hold the lead until White's layup pulled the game to a 47-47 tie with 10:04 to play. UWRF would briefly regain the lead, but UW-La Crosse would take control with 7:50 to play when they took a 51-50 lead. The
Falcons struggled to hang with La Crosse in the closing minutes and the Eagles jumped out to a 12-point, 69-57 lead, with 2:33 to play. The Eagles would go one to claim victory and break the Falcons six-game winning streak.
The Falcons shot 39.7 percent from the field compared the Eagles 47.3 percent. UW-La Crosse also tallied a 47.1 percent mark from behind the three-point line to the Falcons 37.5 percent. Both teams finished 66.7 percent at the free throw line.
With the loss, the Falcons fall to 18-6 overall and 12-3 in the WIAC. UW-La Crosse improves to 15-9 overall and 7-8 in WIAC play.
