Men's Basketball Wins Thriller, 58-57

Shane Manor Scores 22, Aaron Anderson Wins it

Shane Manor had 22 points and Aaron Anderson hit the game-winning three pointer with five seconds to play as the Falcons defeated UW-Superior, 58-57, on Wednesday night at the Karges Center.

The Falcons extended their winning streak to five in-a-row and avenge a last second, 85-82, loss in Superior on Jan. 18.

Manor finished the game with 22 total points to lead all scorers and he also collected six rebounds. Ollie White finished 5-8 from the field with 13 points and four rebounds. Wade Guerin scored eight and grabbed nine boards. Brian Kimble added five points and 4 rebounds and Anderson finished with six points and three rebounds.

The first six minutes of the first half were dominated by the Falcons through as they took a 10 point lead. The Yellowjackets then fought back to tie the game at 15-15 with 6:48 to play in the half. Both teams would battle for the lead in the final minutes of the first, but it was Anderson's three-pointer with 53 seconds left that gave the Falcons a 29-28 lead at the half.

UWRF started the second half by controlling the game through the first ten minutes and jumping out to a seven point lead with 10:15 to play. The lead would not last long as the Yellowjackets hung tight with the Falcons and eventually took a two-point, 51-49 lead with 3:14 to play. The game would change as the Yellowjackets made just one from the free throw line to make the score 57-55 with just 15 seconds to play.

On the missed free throw attempt, the Falcons took possession and Anderson hit the game winning three from the top of the key with 5 seconds on the clock to give the Falcons a 58-57 victory.

The Falcons shot 40.7 percent from the field a 73.3 percent mark from the free throw line. UW-Superior shot 46.9 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from the free throw line. UWRF outscore the Yellowjackets, 17-6, on second chance points in the game.

With the victory, the Falcons improve to 17-5 overall and 12-2 in the WIAC. The Yellowjackets fall to 13-10 overall 7-7 in the WIAC.

The Falcons will now take on the UW-Oshkosh Titans on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. at the Karges Center.
