Grant Erickson all scored in double figures to help lead the Falcon men's basketball team to a come-from-behind 63-59 win over Wartburg College at the Stout Thanksgiving Classic played on Saturday afternoon.
UWRF trailed at halftime, 41-23, but then caught fire and outscored WC, 40-18 in the second half, to get the four-point win.
Gresmer led the team with 15 points while White added 14 and Erickson 13.
Gresmer scored a season-high 15 points going 5-7 from the field, including a perfect 3-3 from three-point range. Most of White's points came at the line where he finished 8-12. The senior was a dominant force on the boards coming down with eight rebounds which was two times more than any other player.
Erickson scored a career-high 13 points in the win. The first year player has started four games and has scored in double digits twice. He shot 3-6 from the field, including 1-3 from behind the arc, and 6-8 from the line. He also led all players with four assists and a career-high four steals.
Wartburg led by double digits for most of the seconds half. The Falcons first cut the lead to single digits (seven) with 5:48 to go when Gresmer hit a three. That cut the Wartburg lead to 54-47. Wartburg held the lead until 2:08 remained to play. White was fouled and he hit 1-2 free throws to tie the game, 59-59. The Falcons got a stop on defense and White hit a layup with 1:30 to go to get the Falcons the two-point lead. Erickson hit a free throw with :23 to play and with just two seconds to play
Devin Buckley also hit a free throw to end the score.
Wartburg was led by Chris Thomas who scored 11 points.
The Falcons, now 2-3, will play Ashford on Sunday starts at noon at UW-Stout.
