Falcons finish seventh at WIAC Championship

MADISON, Wis. - The UW-River Falls women's tennis team concluded its fall season at the 2022 WIAC Championship Oct. 22-23 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium, finishing in seventh place with four team points.

UW-Whitewater won its 16th consecutive team title with 21 points. The team title is determined by using a combination of the regular-season dual-meet standings and the WIAC championship results.

The Falcons, who went 1-5 during the WIAC dual-meet schedule to collect two points, also earned two championship points.

At No. 4 singles, Kaytlyn Syverson bounced back after a first round loss by defeating Ani Bulbulian 7-6, 6-3. She fell in the consolation match to finish sixth.

Syverson and her doubles teammate Kailey Courteau also earned a Falcon team point at No. 2 doubles. The pair fell in the first round and responded with a win over UW-Stout and defeated Carpenter/Nolde from UW-Oshkosh 8-5 for the consolation title.

Karyn Duddeck was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
