WIAC MAKES CHANGES TO WIAC TOURNAMENT
In response to a significant imbalance in the number of games played by teams throughout the conference due to the COVID-19 protocols, the WIAC Basketball Tournament will now include all eight conference teams.
First round contests for both genders will be held Feb. 18. The men's tournament will also remain as previously scheduled with the second round on Feb. 22, semifinals on Feb. 24 and championship on Feb. 26.
Both tournaments will be "re-seeded" after the first and second rounds.
A regular-season champion (or champions) will be crowned after the regular-season schedule only if it can be mathematically determined. If it is unable to be mathematically determined, the winner of the conference tournament will also receive the regular-season title.
UPSET OVER PIONEERS
During Alumni & Senior Night last Saturday, Feb. 12 at Page Arena, the Falcons knocked off No. 5-ranked UW-Platteville, 74-71.
UWRF shot 13-of-24 from the field and 9-of-18 from beyond the arc while out-rebounding the Pioneers 36-29. After a Platteville three-pointer trimmed the Falcon lead to 72-71 with under a minute left on the game clock, Marshall Holland pulled in a critical offensive rebound after a Falcon missed shot and Bryce Phillips drew a foul. He sank both free throws to give UWRF the 74-71 triumph.
Noah Hanson led the Falcons with a game-high 22 points off 7-of-13 shooting from the field. Jake Reeck added 15 points off the bench and Payne collected a game-high 10 rebounds. Phillips had nine assists and Holland had three steals.
REECK EARNS FALCON OF THE WEEK HONORS
Through two games last week, junior guard Jake Reeck averaged 13.5 points per game and shot nearly 70 percent from the field, shooting 11-for-16 including a 4-of-7 mark from beyond the arc. He tied his season-high with 15 points against UW-Platteville, and was named the Royal Credit Union Male Falcon of the Week.
