CLERMONT, Fla. - The UW-River Falls softball team improved to 11-4 overall on Friday afternoon, winning 6-3 over Ramapo College and 3-1 over Plattsburgh State.
The Falcons close out their Florida spring break trip tomorrow versus William Paterson and Benedictine.
UW-River Falls 6, Ramapo 3
UWRF totaled eight hits compared to seven from Ramapo, led two hits apiece from
Kelly Aultman and
Chapin Rappaport.
Starting pitcher
Lindsey Duggan held Ramapo scorless through the first four innings, while UWRF gained a 3-0 lead in the third inning off an Aultman RBI double and a 2-RBI single from
Johanna Breyen.
Ramapo scored runs in each the fifth, sixth, and seventh, but the Falcons' two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth made the difference.
UWRF scored two in the fifth, with a 2-RBI single from
Keegan Piton, scoring Breyen and Aultman for the eventual game-winning run.
Duggan was relieved by
Maggie Wallin in the sixth, and she earned a two-inning save. Duggan earned the win to improve her record to 4-0.
UW-River Falls 3, Plattsburgh State 1
Despite conceding 11 base hits, UWRF pitchers
Corinne Roe and
Juliana Reynolds combined to allow just one earned run in seven innings.
The Falcons took an early lead off a Plattsburgh error, but the Cardinals answered in the second to lock up the score at 1-1.
A Cardinal wild pitch in the fifth scored
Jewel Waupekenay for the eventual game-winning run, and a Rappaport RBI single in the seventh put UWRF up 3-1.
Reynolds pitched a trio of scoreless innings to close out the game and earn the save. Roe earned the win, pitching the first four innings.
UWRF totaled 10 base hits, led by a 3-for-4 effort from
Grace Petersen. Breyen, Piton, and
Lindsey Strom also added two hits each.
