NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The UW-River Falls men's and women's cross country teams competed this weekend at the St. Olaf Invitational in Northfield, Minn.
The Falcons competed in a field of 22 teams, placing eighth on the men's side with 238 points and ninth on the women's side with 249 points.
Both the men's and women's top finishers finished in 44th place. Logan Munson led the Falcons in the men's 8k with a time of 27:01.2. In the women's 6k, Laina Viere was UWRF's top finisher with a time of 24:40.6
Ryan Pierson (27:21.7) was River Falls' next finisher in the men's 8k, placing 57th. Jack Richter (27:26.9/63rd), Wyatt Johnson (27:38.00/70th), and Levi Miest (27:51.8/81st) finished in the top 100 for UWRF. John Fritts (28:57.6/139th) and Carson Buckli (29:02.3/142nd) rounded out the Falcons' top-seven finishers.
In the women's 6k, Adison Wilde was UWRF's second finisher in 47th place with a time of 24:42.4. Peyton Opsahl was the Falcons' next finisher at 50th with a season-best time of 24:46.6. Jaidyn McAlpine (25:38/74th), Emma Karnitz (25:41.5/76th), and Issabella Jeurissen (26:05.9/92nd) rounded out UWRF's top-100 finishers. Amber Lawrence (26:40.9/124th) finished as UWRF's final point scorer.
Up next, the Falcons will head back to Northfield, Minn., this time competing in the Carleton Running of the Cows on Oct. 5.
