MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) released its Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 5-11, with
Alexa Niccum representing UW-River Falls as the Women's Hockey Athlete of the Week.
Niccum led the top-ranked Falcons to a pair of road wins on the week at St. Kate's and No. 8-ranked Gustavus, totaling six points with two goals and four assists. At St. Kate's on Wednesday, Jan. 7, she totaled four points with a goal and three assists and followed up with a goal and an assist at Gustavus on Saturday, Jan. 10, including the game-winning goal on the power play.
The award is the second of Niccum's career and UWRF's fifth WIAC Player of the Week award winner this season, following
Megan Goodreau (Nov. 3-9),
Sophia Hess (Nov. 24-30), and
MaKenna Aure (Dec. 8-14 & Dec. 29-Jan. 4).
No. 1-ranked UWRF (13-1, 2-1 WIAC) faces off against No. 8/11-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College tonight at 7:05 p.m. inside Hunt Arena.
