No. 1 Falcons to host No. 9 Blugolds for Saturday Night WIAC Showdown

The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls is set to face No. 9/10-ranked UW-Eau Claire Saturday evening at Hunt Arena.

THE SERIES

  • Saturday's game marks the 99th all-time meeting between UW-River Falls and UW-Eau Claire.
  • The Blugolds snapped a nine-game UWRF winning streak on Nov. 22, 2025 in Eau Claire, handing the Falcons' their sole loss this season with a 3-0 win.

FALCON NOTES

  • UWRF remains ranked No. 1 in this week's USCHO and DIII Hockey News national rankings, receiving unanimous first place votes for the third consecutive week.
  • The Falcons are coming off a 4-1 win over UW-Superior last Saturday, Jan. 31 at Hunt Arena. Alexa Niccum led the Falcons with two goals, including one on the power play, while Megan Goodreau collected three assists and Jordan O'Kane made 18 saves in net.
  • UWRF has scored on the power play in 15 consecutive games, and went on a nine-game run in which they scored at least two power play goals per game (Jan. 3-24), leading NCAA Division III with a total of 32 power play tallies and a 46.4% success rate on the man advantage.
    • The Falcons are also the DIII leaders with 5.2 goals per game with a total of 103 goals scored this season.
  • Megan Goodreau is the national leader with 12 power play goals, which is a UWRF single-season record and tied a WIAC during the Jan. 17 win over UW-Superior. She's also the nation's leading scorer with 51 points off 22 goals and 29 assists.
    • Behind Goodreau, Sophia Hess ranks fourth in the country with 34 points (18g-16a), and MaKenna Aure is the top-scoring defender in the nation with 24 points (7g-17a).
    • Senior Jordan O'Kane has started in 16 of 20 games this season in net and ranks among the nation's top-five goalies with a 0.94 goals against average and a .951 save percentage, along with five shutouts.
