The UW-River Falls women's soccer team returns to play on Thursday, Sept. 17, traveling north to face UW-Superior. Kickoff against the Yellowjackets is set for 4 p.m. in Superior, Wis.

The Falcons enter the matchup with a 2-1-1 overall record through their first four games of the 2026 season. UWRF earned wins over Gustavus Adolphus and Augsburg, fell to Bethel, and most recently, battled Milwaukee School of Engineering to a 3-3 draw.

THE SERIES

UW-River Falls has controlled the all-time series against UW-Superior, holding a 12-2-1 record dating back to 2009. The two programs have produced competitive results in recent seasons as UWRF earned a 3-0 win in River Falls in 2022 before the teams played to a scoreless draw in 2023. The Yellowjackets then turned in a 2-1 victory at home in 2024 before the Falcons responded with a 4-2 win in River Falls last season. 

FALCON NOTES

• UW-River Falls opened the season with a 2-1 comeback victory at Gustavus Adolphus. Ellie Ketcher equalized just 45 seconds into the second half before Brooke McDaniel scored the eventual game-winner in the 85th minute off an assist from Lauren Gregory. Courtney Bain made five saves in the victory.
• Following a 3-0 setback against Bethel, the Falcons bounced back with a 1-0 shutout over Augsburg. Leah Hultman scored just 1:33 into the match off assists from Emery Bigler and Maddie Finstad. UWRF finished with a 17-9 advantage in shots and a 13-3 edge in corner kicks, while Bain made six saves to secure the shutout.
• Most recently, UWRF and MSOE played to a 3-3 draw at Ramer Field. After entering halftime down 1-0, Bigler scored twice in a span of less than four minutes to put the Falcons in front. Gabby Faletti assisted on Bigler's first goal, while Bain recorded an assist on the second. Nora Arneson later scored the first goal of her collegiate career off an Abby Drontle assist. 
• Through four matches, Bigler leads the Falcon attack with two goals, one assist and five points while totaling a team-high 15 shots. Hultman, Ketcher, McDaniel and Arneson have each scored once. UWRF has totaled 46 shots, including 24 on goal.
• Bain has started three matches in net and owns a 2-0-1 record with a 1.33 goals-against average and .800 save percentage. She has made 16 saves through 270 minutes and recorded one shutout.
